The walks on offer range from short walks and strolls, to day-long hikes for fitter walkers. There will even be a boat trip suitable for wheelchair users and pushchairs. In addition there will be walks with added special interests including family fun, history and trees. This year features a special canal fun day with Cotswold Canals Connected on Sunday 11th September, and throughout the festival, there will be additional canal-themed walks highlighting the history of the canal, and the project to finally restore the missing mile.Stonehouse is a pretty town in Gloucestershire with a gold award from Heart of England in Bloom and Silver in the National awards last year. Come and walk the Judges’ route with us. As well as all the amazing flower displays and projects, the town also has a community arboretum plan and manages an ever-diverse collection of interesting trees. Learn all about them on walking tours both in the town and on Doverow hill.Did you know that Stonehouse was first mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086? The manor vineyard was the only one recorded in Gloucestershire at the time. An impressive Police Station, built in 1890, still stands proudly in the town centre and 3 historic coaching inns remain. Join us on a tour to find out more about the town’s history with us.Stonehouse town is an ideal base for exploring this area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Pathways including the Cotswold Way lead in all directions across fields, through woodlands, along canal, river and rail trails, and onto rolling countryside, hills and valleys.Panoramic views can be enjoyed all around, including across to the Severn valley and beyond.Join us for the walking festival. It’s a great opportunity to meet likeminded people, and to find out more about Stonehouse and its beautiful surroundings. For a schedule and full details, visit the festival’s website: http://www.stonehousewalks.co.uk or Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Stonehousewalkingfestival Email: stonehousewalkfest@gmail.com Tel: 07816 552171

I just wanted to get in touch as I am organising this year’s Meningitis Now Five Valleys Walk. The event takes place on 24th September 2023 and follows a 21-mile route through Stroud and its surrounding valleys.

The Five Valleys Walk is suitable for all ages and abilities, and walkers can start or finish at any of our eight checkpoints. Although the 21-mile route is a tough challenge, you can choose your distance and cover anything from 1.5 miles up to the full 21.

We’d like to thank the Stroud Ramblers for their support over the years and hope we may see some of you on this year’s event. More information about the walk can be found at fivevalleyswalk.com

Best Wishes
